INDEPENDENT BUYING GUIDE · UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2026
Best smart toilets for small bathrooms
A smart toilet purchase starts with fit, water supply and power—not a feature checklist. Use this guide to narrow the options, then check the manufacturer's current installation drawing.
Start with the non-negotiables
- Measure finished-wall-to-flange-center rough-in and the usable room footprint.
- Check the exact model’s electrical rating, outlet location and applicable code requirements.
- Verify water pressure, required flow and shutoff-valve position.
- Compare seat height, bidet modes, flushing and outage behavior only among compatible models.
Small-room measurements
Record the door swing, vanity clearance, front clearance and lid-opening space. A shorter bowl does not guarantee a suitable installation. For context, HOROW lists the T16 at 25 9/16 inches long and the X70 at 28 3/16 inches; verify each model’s complete drawing.
Example specification comparison

Start with the available footprint
Measure front and side clearances, door swing and the wall-to-flange distance. A short toilet can still be unsuitable if its lid, remote or power cord interferes with a vanity.
Compare full dimensions
Use the manufacturer drawing for length, width, height and required service clearance. Check whether the water shutoff and electrical outlet remain accessible after installation.
Choose the least disruptive fit
A compact conventional toilet plus a compatible bidet seat may suit some rooms better than an integrated unit. Compare both approaches if the existing toilet's placement is already workable.
Use a fit-first shortlist
For each candidate, record rough-in, length, width, seat height, supply pressure, electrical rating and outlet location. Eliminate models that cannot meet the room's fixed constraints. Only then compare wash controls, heating, flushing, cleaning access and appearance.
Read the installation and warranty documents
A feature list cannot tell you whether the product can be serviced easily in your area. Find the manual, warranty, return policy and replacement-part process for the precise model. If professional installation is required, obtain a quote before ordering rather than treating the fixture price as the total project cost.
Shortlist by actual projection
A few inches of front-to-back length can determine whether a bathroom door opens fully. Compare installed projection from the finished wall, width at the widest point and the lid’s opening envelope, not the product’s marketing category.
Check service access
A compact integrated toilet can still require room to reach a shutoff valve, power connection or removable side panel. Make sure the fixture can be maintained after nearby cabinetry is installed.
